WordPress & PHP/SQL Implementation
We are looking for an accomplished PHP and WordPress developer to create a WordPress site for a small television network client. The client has TWO sites currently (local and national) and they need to be merged into a single site.
The local and national sites have overlapping and similar pages, but they are distinct so the users of the site must be able to easily tell which site they’re looking at, and toggle between the two. You and the designer will work together to ensure this is the case.
Note that an NDA will be required
Payment will be corporation to corporation (LLC or S corp)
We have a document that explains the specific requirements for the site. Some of the more complex items are as follows and will help you estimate your effort.
We will be responsible for
- Setting up WordPress on the server
- Ensuring that the domain is registered and set up properly
- Making sure you have images you need for the static pages
- Making sure you have the proper level of access to do your work
- Making sure you can access the remote SQL database mentioned in the advanced tasks.
You will work with our on staff designer on
- Selecting an appropriate theme for the WordPress site
- Ensuring an intuitive User Experience on the site.
- ensuring that there is a logical co existence of the LOCAL station site and the NATIONAL – station site and that users can easily and intuitively determine which site they’re looking at, and toggle back and forth simply.
- determining the technology to be used on the “live stream” portion of the site.
You will be responsible for te following general items
- Adhering to the design guide, CSS, fonts, etc
You will be responsible for the following *simple* pages/tasks
- Configuration of the Word Press site
- Installing the theme into WordPress
- Creation of the WordPress pages
- Approximately 75 simple pages, one per television program (content already exists)
- Approximately 25-30 other simple pages with static content, links, etc. Basic stuff.
You will be responsible for the following *intermediate* tasks
- Creation of a “community calendar” in which
- users submit community events
- administrators are notified of the events
- administrators approve or reject the events
- approved events are shown in the calendar.
- calendar items can be “ongoing” or they can occur once
- a plug in may be used for this if one exists
- Creation of a page that displays RSS content
- Creation of a page on which the user can stream a live television feed. We will work out the technological solution to the streaming.
You will be responsible for the following *advanced* tasks
- Creating a WordPress php component which
- accesses a third party database
- builds a program guide grid dynamically (both for a day and a week)
- displays the program guide within WordPress as a page element
- Creating a wordpress php component which
- accesses a third party database
- builds a list of programs dynamically
- displays the list within wordpress as a page element
– applying and communicating security best practices
Geo-aware image message board
Hello,
We need a programmer to develop a back-end and a design-ready front-end of a message board. We already have a team of designers that will layout, style and finish the look of both user’s and admin’s web interfaces — so the front-end should be really flexible, so — no tables, just divs please
. All we want here is pure CSS3 and HTML5 compliant output.
Use cases, data structure/logic, typical pages’ general design layouts etc. are available and sent upon agreement.
PROJECT’S MAIN FEATURES:
Python/Django or PHP are preferred as development languages; MySQL is preferred for the database; CSS3 and HTML5 compliant; no tables, no flash; mobile-superfriendly; pages loading as fast as possible; geo-aware/geo-enabled; SEO-friendly; RSS / Atom feed; unicode ready.
Users should be able to: compose and post messages, flag, read, and search for messages, filter list of messages by given filters, register an account, edit and delete their messages, see certain statistics regarding their own messages,
POSTING MESSAGES:
A message consists of:
- required plain text (possibly multiline) – filled by user;
- several various inputs (radiobuttons, checkboxes, dropdown lists, text inputs) – filled/checked by user;
- arbitrary picture(s) uploaded by user to our back-end or linked from another website or – if possible – a photo sharing service like facebook/pixable, picasa, fotki, flickr, photobucket, imageshack, dropbox, skydrive, etc etc etc (the list is still under consideration – we dont need support for dozens of image services to be coded into back-end at once, we just need 2-3-4 of them AND the back-end should be flexible enough to add more services later by a completely different programmer/developer; ALSO – if linking via services turns out to be too hard to develop, we’d like at least to let user point to a shared image so that the system saves a copy to our back-end);
- a required geo location defined either (at the user’s choise) by the user’s mobile device or set manually by clicking on a map;
- arbitrary author ID (if written by a registered user).
GEO-TAGGING:
One of a message’s required attributes is a Geo-point which must be defined by the message’s author either by a GPS function of their mobile device or pointed manually by clicking on a map. The map API to use is Yandex maps or Google maps (still choosing).
Please suggest your price.

PROPOSAL
TNI proposes to supply a programmer to create the software portion of the SGSS system.
The supported software will be developed to administer the SGSS system. These SGSS systems will include the following three subsystems:
SGSS Corporate system: This system is designed to be used by the SGSS Corporate to setup, edit, remove, report, and bill the clients.
SGSS Client systems: These systems are designed for the clients to access their account information, report, and modify billing information.
SGSS Store system: This system is designed to be web based. This system will be used by both the general public wanting information of the SGSS service and the Clients to sign up for the service.
The Milestones that TNI will be developing the software systems are as follows:
Approval of the Project: This is the point of approval for TNI to start working on the project (i.e.; signing of this agreement).
Systems Research Report: This report will be a detail of the workflow, database, and screens for the three subsystems discussed above.
Programming: The programming of the SGSS service using Microsoft .NET programming, the Microsoft SQL database, and Microsoft Azure cloud.
o Development of the SQL Databases and the Stored Procedures needed to support the Microsoft Azure site.
Creation of a Microsoft Azure SGSS account that will house the Microsoft SQL server service and the web based applications. Utilities created to simulate the SGSS Device insert record into the MS SQL database. Creation of the tables that will be used for the system. Loading the tables with test data.
o Development of the SGSS Corporate screens
CRUD (Create, Edit, Update, Delete) screens Unit Testing of the screens
o Development of the SGSS Client Screens CRUD (Create, Edit, Update, Delete) screens Unit Testing of the screens
o Development of the SGSS Store Screens CRUD (Create, Edit, Update, Delete) screens Unit Testing of the screens A Credit Card system that SGSS will recommend and approve will be installed and tested.
QA Testing and Release to Production: The QA testing will be done by a group of beta clients and SGSS staff. The Release to Production is the final step where the clients will have access to the system.
